TPDC 101 BIBLICAL INTERPRETATION

A course in the basic principles of interpretation of the Holy Scriptures. Special attention will be given to the grammatico-historical method.

 

TPDC 102 INTRODUCTION TO THE REFORMED FAITH

This course is a reasoned explanation of the Sovereignty of God and the Reformed interpretation of salvation.

 

TPDC 103 DOCTRINE OF ETERNAL DECREES

This course examines the relation between predestination and creation, God’s omniscience, His eternal decrees, redemption, and free will.

 

TPDC 104 DOCTRINE OF SCRIPTURE

This course examines the inspiration, authority, and infallibility of the Bible.  The student will come to learn that the Bible is the only source of truth.

 

TPDC 105 TEXT AND TRANSLATION

This course examines the text and translation of the Bible.  A special emphasis is given to the King James Version controversy.

 

TPDC 106 SCRIPTURE AND TRADITION

A historical survey of the doctrine of sola scriptura in its ancient, medieval, and Protestant form.  Critiques of the Roman Catholic, Eastern Orthodox, and Modern Evangelical positions are also examined.

 

TPDC 107 SYSTEMATIC THEOLOGY

This course is designed to introduce the student to the study of God, man, covenant, Christ and salvation, the study of the church and its functions, and last things or end times. Special emphasis will be given to the biblical and historical context and development of Reformational theology.   

 

TPDC 108 DOCTRINE OF LAST THINGS

A thorough study of end times.

 

TPDC 109 INTRODUCTION TO CHRISTIAN PHILOSPOHY

An introduction to Christian philosophy that will lead the student to construct a philosophical system based on the Bible alone.

 

TPDC 110 DEFENDING THE FAITH

This course will establish the basic principles for the defense of the Christian Faith. Attention will be given to a Christian theory of knowledge.

 

TPDC 111 BIBLICAL ETHICS

A course of study dealing with moral issues in our modern society as they relate to a biblical understanding of Gods Word. Special emphasis will be given to the Westminster Confession’s teaching on the Law of God.

 

TPDC 113 CHURCH HISTORY I

A study of the Early Church to the Reformation. Special attention will be given to development of the church’s doctrine and practice in light of biblical teachings.

 

TPDC 114 CHURCH HISTORY II

A study of the Reformation to the Modern Twentieth Century Church. Special attention will be given to the development of Reformed thought during and after the Reformation.

 

TPDC 115 HISTORY OF DOCTRINE

This course traces the movements of Christian thought within the church from the Apostolic Fathers to the Twentieth century.

 

TPDC 117 OLD TESTAMENT SURVEY

A survey of the content and history of the Old Testament. Special emphasis will be given to the covenantal themes given in the progression of revelation.

 

TPDC 118 NEW TESTAMENT SURVEY

This course will cover the content and history of the New Testament. Special emphasis will be given to the covenantal themes give in the progression of revelation.

 

TPDC 119 BIBLICAL COUNSELING

A study in the principles of biblical counseling. Special emphasis will be given to the Nouthetic method of counseling.

 

TPDC 120 SHORTER CATECHISM

An examination of the Shorter Catechism with Scriptural proofs and explanations.

 

TPDC 121 PRESBYTERIAN GOVERNMENT*

A study of the biblical basis and defense of the Presbyterian form of Church Government.

 

TPDC 122 PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH HISTORY

The history and development of the Presbyterian Church, from its ideological conception in Geneva to Scotland and America.

 

TPDC 123 EVANGELISM

A study of the ministry of evangelism from the Prince of Preachers, Charles Spurgeon.

 

TPDC 124 CHRISTIAN LIVING

A study of practical, biblical advice on Christ-centered family living, emphasizing communication with family members, family guidance and discipline.

 

TPDC 127 CREATIONISM

This course gives the student the scientific understanding and defense of Biblical Creationism.

 

TPDC 128 Shepherding God’s Flock

A study on the theology of the ministerial care of the church. Special emphasis will be given to developing spiritual maturity in the life of a Christian.

 

TPDC 127 THE ELDERSHIP

A course covering the qualification and duties for the office of Elder. There is a practicum required for the completion of this course of study.

 

 

* Those in other Reformed Denominations (Reformed Baptist, Reformed Episcopal, Christian Reformed, etc.), will need to substitute their own denominational history with arrangements made through Thornwell.
